Bloomington, IndianaI work in this weekly clinic that serves the community as well as university students and staff, providing assessment and therapy services to clients presenting with sexual problems. I am involved in a weekly multidisciplinary supervision group, and also provide individual supervision to graduate students from a variety of disciplines (Ph.D. Clinical Science, Ph.D. Counseling, M.A. Counseling) taking a one-year intensive practicum in sex therapy that I organize.
1991 - 1994:
Premenstrual Syndrome Clinic

I worked in this clinic on a bi-weekly basis, seeing patients attending for treatment of premenstrual syndrome and liaising with general practitioners regarding their management. Treatment interventions used included cognitive therapy, self-management training and recommendations for hormonal treatments and other medication were made to patientsí general practitioners.

This group, which receives funding from the Family Planning Association, was an 8-week course offering information and support to women with premenstrual complaints. I was involved in the organization and the running of the groups.

Responsibilities for this post, based in the Departments of Genitourinary Medicine and Psychological Medicine, were: (1) to provide a systematic Clinical Psychology service to those who are infected with HIV, to their families, and others who are significantly affected by the disease; (2) to contribute to the prevention of HIV disease through work with those at risk of infection; (3) to provide a clinical case management, supervisory and consultative role to other professions within the R.I.E. (4) to contribute to the planning, organization, operation, and evaluation of services at R.I.E. for those who are HIV-infected. In addition to the above, non-HIV related referrals were received from a number of departments within the R.I.E., including Genitourinary Medicine, Neurology, Gynaecology, and Surgery.

Responsibilities included: (1) the provision of clinical services to two community clinics, a pediatric clinic, an adult out-patient department, and in-patient psychiatric wards; (2) supervision of undergraduate psychology students' research projects; (3) liaising with medical and other hospital/community staff; (4) representation of the Department on committees. I carried a caseload of over one hundred patients and received referrals from a wide range of sources, including general practitioners, psychiatrists, neurologists, cardiologists, and school authorities. I am co-chair of the Interdepartmental Graduate Committee on Human Sexuality, which, together with the Kinsey Institute, organizes the Ph.D. Minor in Human Sexuality offered at Indiana University. In my role as Director of Training at the Kinsey Institute, I have worked on expanding the existing Ph.D. Minor in Human Sexuality, the development of new graduate courses (Sexual Science Research Seminar, and Practicum in Sex Therapy), and on planning a series of summer institutes for graduate students doing sex research. I have also worked on a number of grant applications for funding graduate student training.

Three of these courses (P204, P657, and P690) were new offerings in the department. I was a guest lecturer in three graduate psychology courses. I supervised a number of students doing Senior Honors Projects and was the primary advisor for a Ph.D. student in the clinical science program. I served on Ph.D. advisory and qualifications committees for a number of doctoral students in Psychology and Applied Health Science.

I acted as clinical supervisor to two trainees on a 1-year psychosexual training course offered by this organization. This involved regular supervision sessions, evaluation of traineesí written work, and meetings with the course organizers. I was involved in organizing a series of workshops on sex therapy which were held for NHS staff in 1994. I also led a one-day workshop on sexual abuse and sexual violence.
