Atlas Figure, 1949

Al Urban was a pioneering American photographer in the field of physique and body-building art. His first studio in New York became one of the earliest and most successful producers of physique photographs. Images such as this photograph by Urban were published in physique magazines and sold through a mail-order system during the 1940s and 1950s.
