Ballet Dancer
As if looking to the sky, this male ballet dancer's striking pose helps
convey to the viewer a true idea of the sensuality that exists in the
world of artistic dance. The subject's slightly clad attire exposes much
of his physique, which helps to transcend the boundaries of the still
photograph into something more erotic in nature. The effective use of
back lighting behind the subject's left shoulder, along with the direct
light used on the right pelvic area, helps add to the depth that the picture
conveys, and demonstrates the photographer's unique ability as an artist
as well. This image is part of the Watching from the Wings: Warhol
and Dance exhibition at the Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburg, PA.
