This fellowship supports academic, creative, and curatorial research using library and archival materials at the Kinsey Institute. From film studies to health sciences, it is designed to support graduate scholars from a wide range of academic disciplines. Past scholars have come from Emory, Harvard, Indiana University, Northwestern, Rutgers, Stanford, University of Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, Yale, and other schools to explore representations of sexuality in literature, the history of medicine, sexuality across different cultures, and more.
Scholars of Sexology Fellowship
- $5,000 per fellow to support a 4-8 week research visit to the Kinsey Institute in Bloomington, Indiana, to be completed within the calendar year of the award
- Multiple fellows may be selected
- Research may be for a thesis or dissertation
Eligibility
- Candidates aged 18+ currently enrolled in a graduate program
- Applicants must be enrolled in a US college or university; non-US citizens must hold a valid visa
- Any academic discipline (past awardees have specialized in media, health sciences, history, performance art, American studies, information technology, sociology and more)
Requirements
- Produce a 400-500 word written report about the research undertaken at the Kinsey Institute
- Deposit of any digital product of this research at the Kinsey Institute Library
- Acknowledge the fellowship and the Kinsey Institute in any form of publication or product
- Contribute to the visibility, preservation, and/or accessibility of the Kinsey Institute collections. Contributions may include public presentations, exhibitions, books, news or media publications, film or video, or educational materials presenting Kinsey Institute holdings related to the research topic.
