"Kinsey Institute: Untold Stories" Debuts Dec. 3 in Miami

Kinsey Institute: Untold Stories is one of three new Installations of erotic art and artifacts at the World Erotic Arts Museum (WEAM) - part of a new collaboration between WEAM, the Kinsey Institute, and Humboldt University (Berlin).  The exhibit opens with a preview Sunday December 3rd, 5-8pm.

The World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM), the Kinsey Institute and Humboldt University in Berlin have partnered for an exhibition presenting three unique and thought-provoking collections of artwork and material culture related to human sexuality.

  • WEAM presents a reimagining of Naomi Wilzig’s groundbreaking private collection of erotic art. This new installation marks the first time the recent acquisitions will be presented to the public. Many of the works on display from Naomi Wilzig’s collection have never been seen before.
  • “Kinsey Institute: Untold Stories” features artworks and points of view that have largely been kept out of mainstream sex culture. This exhibition provides a platform for stories, perspectives and voices that have been marginalized to be heard.
  • A new gallery is dedicated to the work and collection of Magnus Hirschfeld, a German sex researcher whose art collection and library were burned by the Nazis in 1933. Humboldt University in Berlin holds most of Hirschfeld’s archives, and his legacy influenced the collections of both Alfred Kinsey and Naomi Wilzig.

After the overwhelming success of the collaborative exhibition “Protected Beauty” in 2016, WEAM and the Kinsey Institute are thrilled to be working together again to present these new installations from three internationally recognized institutions at WEAM, the future Wilzig Museum building.

These new presentations will open for a public preview from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at WEAM, 1205 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida.
