The Institute for Sexual and Gender Health (ISGH) is one of the largest clinical, teaching, and research institutions in the world specializing in human sexuality. We have a strong research agenda in sexual aggression and compulsive sexual behavior, transgender health, relationship and sex therapy, and women’s sexual health that has been supported by millions of dollars in state and federal funding. We have developed innovative and effective treatment approaches to sexual problems. ISGH has led the way nationally and internationally in crucial, often controversial, sexual issues and has worked with local, national, and international health agencies to advance public health policies promoting sexual health. The International Academy of Sex Research is a scientific society whose objectives are the promotion of high standards of research and scholarship in the field of sexual behavior by fostering communication among scholars engaged in such research. Visit iasrsite.org for more information.

The Human Sexuality department at the California Institute of Integral Studies draws professionals from many disciplines who are interested in furthering the scholarship of sexuality studies.

We strive to provide an integral view of human sexuality that includes multiple perspectives and philosophies. Students are invited to explore desire, intimacy, identity, sexuality/gender, cultural influences, power and stigma, sexual response and practices, and reproduction. In addition to the Ph.D. in Human Sexuality, CIIS also offers a Sex Therapy Certificate open to the public through our Public Programs department.
